On January 12th, the "Artificial Intelligence Science and Engineering" Beijing University High-precision Discipline Strategy Consultation Conference and the first High-precision Discipline Frontier Forum were held at Beijing University of Science and Technology. Academician Wang Yaonan of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, former chairman of the Chinese Society for Artificial Intelligence and senior professor of our school Tu Xuyan, school vice president Wu Aixiang attended, Wang Xingfen, dean of the Graduate School of Beijing Information Science And  Technology University, Su Zhong, dean of the School of Automation, Beijing Information Science And Technology University, Heads of departments and representatives of teachers and students of the Institute of Artificial Intelligence attended the meeting. The meeting was chaired by Lin Lin, Director of the Development Planning Division.

The meeting established the "Artificial Intelligence Science and Engineering" Beijing University High-precision Discipline Strategic Advisory Committee, with Academician Wang Yaonan as the director, Sun Fuchun, vice chairman of the Chinese Society of Artificial Intelligence, Qiao Junfei, vice president of Beijing University of Technology, and Wu Qihui, assistant president of Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics, Zeng Zhigang, Dean of the School of Artificial Intelligence and Automation, Huazhong University of Science and Technology, Fang Yongchun, Dean of the School of Artificial Intelligence, Nankai University, Sun Changyin, Head of the Innovation Group of the National Natural Science Foundation of China, Feng Zhiyong, Vice Dean of the Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications, Li Xiaoguang, Dean of the Beijing Institute of Unmanned Technology , Tian Feng, assistant to the director of the Institute of Software, Chinese Academy of Sciences, and Sun Jian, deputy dean of the School of Automation, Beijing Institute of Technology, served as committee members. Wu Aixiang issued a certificate to the consultant.

At the meeting, Wang Yaonan and other members of the Strategic Advisory Committee combined their respective research institutions and the development trend and research experience of artificial intelligence in the field, and put forward valuable opinions and suggestions for our school to build "artificial intelligence science and engineering" high-precision discipline.

On behalf of the school, Wu Aixiang expressed his heartfelt thanks to the Strategic Advisory Committee and other experts participating in the meeting. He briefly introduced the basic situation of our university’s “Artificial Intelligence Science and Engineering” high-precision disciplines and artificial intelligence research institutes in Beijing universities, and pointed out that the school’s party committee attaches great importance to the development of artificial intelligence disciplines and has high hopes. Work hard on planning and develop the school's characteristics.

Professor Tu Xuyan was sincerely happy with the achievements of the new generation, and expressed his concern for the young generation and his earnest expectation for the development of artificial intelligence.

Professor Wei He, Dean of the Institute of Artificial Intelligence, introduced the “Artificial Intelligence Science and Engineering” high-precision discipline construction program in Beijing universities from the aspects of talent training, teacher construction, scientific research, service to Beijing, and international exchanges. And he would like to express his sincere thanks for the suggestions on positioning, undergraduate teaching, and talent introduction. He said that under the leadership of the school’s party committee, and with the support of various departments and colleges, the Institute of Artificial Intelligence will further complete the “Artificial Intelligence Science and Engineering” high-precision subject construction plan for Beijing universities, carry out in-depth technological innovation, and explore the development path of the characteristic artificial intelligence discipline of the University of Science and Technology Beijing.

This meeting fully demonstrated the high-precision discipline construction plan of University of Science and Technology Beijing "Artificial Intelligence Science and Engineering", summarized the phased construction achievements of the discipline, clarified the discipline construction direction and construction plan. And it is of great significance to discipline construction and development.
